This solution works most of the time.
1. Turn both switches to OFF position on thermostat temperature control for 1 minute. Then turn the switch to heat or cool, but do not swtich back and forth quickly just to see if it turns on. Turning either switch too quickly (from heat to cool to off, or from auto to on) within 1 second causes the unit to stop working to “protect” itself from overload. These units are old and sensitive. Some units work only when FAN is turned to ON, not AUTO.
2. Some units require the heat and FAN to be turned to ON for 30-60 minutes in order to work properly. Again, this is due to the units that work this way because they’re just old!
When people complain about heater/ac problems it is usually in the evening time when I am not here, although, if i get a complaint regarding this issue i will follow this procedure.
